Woodwind to count as a 2018 film for annual awards

The cut off date for films to be recognized as belonging to the 2017 calendar year is the end of September.

So, with Woodwind screening in October 2017, and the commercial cinema run of the final cut coming up toward the end of the summer 2018, the film will officially be recognized as belonging to 2018 instead.

This is as expected for film’s that premiere toward the end of each year.

That means annual awards for our film will be determined in early 2019. The exception is film festivals which run their own awards throughout the year.

Annual awards in South Africa include the SAFTA’s, while international awards in most other countries will categorize Woodwind as a foreign language film since most of the movie is in Spanish and German.
